Paparazzi Stalk Celebrities
Celebrities
not only get their privacy invaded but they also have to endure strange individuals following them. It is unsafe for celebrities to continue to get stalked by the paparazzi. I can’t imagine having someone
stalking me constantly. The paparazzi go to extreme levels to stalk
celebrities. They not only stalk them while they are walking in a public place
but they go about following them with their cars to their next destination.
A law should be enforced to protect celebrities from being stalked by the paparazzi. Below is a video of Miley Cyrus walking outside of Panera Bread to her car. The
paparazzi follow her by car to her next destination.
Paparazzi Put Celebrities in Danger on the Road
The paparazzi have left
celebrities in danger on the road. Celebrities are fleeing from the paparazzi
because they continue to follow them wherever they go. In the article “Lindsay
Lohan in Car Crash,” Johnny Dodd states that Lindsay Lohan had been in a
car accident on October 04, 2005. The accident involved Lohan and another
driver. Lohan had just gotten out of having lunch with friends at the Ivy
Restaurant and later went for a shopping spree where the paparazzi had spotted
her. The paparazzi were stalking her so she went into her car and pulled off.
She had a car accident as a result (Dodd). A law should be strengthened to prevent the paparazzi from following celebrities by car.
Celebrities Children Are in Danger.
There have even
been a number of cases where the paparazzi put not only celebrities in danger but
their children as well. According to blogspot.com Halle Berry had gotten into a
car accident involving the paparazzi in the year 2007. Halle Berry
spoke to Travis Smiley in an interview on PBS concerning the accident. She was
pregnant and was afraid that something had happened to her unborn child. She
said, “I thought, ‘Oh my God, I hope this jolt and this bang hasn’t done anything
to me internally.’ When I got out of my car… they scattered (the paparazzi).”
The paparazzi caused her to hit a wall but they fled as soon as she wrecked.
Halle Berry also says, “So, there I was stuck with this crashed up car
wondering if this somehow impacted my pregnancy.” ( Halle...)Halle Berry could have lost
her baby in the accident. It’s vital that the paparazzi should stop stalking
celebrities on the road before a life is lost.
The Children of Celebrities Need to be Protected
On June 13, 2011
Tori Spelling drove her two children to school and was followed by the
paparazzi. Tori Spelling, pregnant, had wrecked her car into her children’s school according to Luchina
Fisher on Good Morning America ABC News. This time the paparazzi did not flee
the scene; he actually stood by and managed to take photos anyway until “10
school moms chased him away"(Fisher). The paparazzi had followed her into the driveway
of the school and when Spelling saw him she tried to get away but instead she
hit the wall of the school. The paparazzi have exceeded their limits. It should be against the law to follow a parent taking her child to school and is unethical to continue to take photos after the crash. Although, Tori
Spelling’s children had survived the wreck there should be limits that the
paparazzi must abide by so that celebrities and their families are not put into
danger.
Some Celebrities Don't Make it.
The stalking undergone by the
paparazzi have even effected celebrities safety and security. The news stations
all around the world have covered numerous stories of celebrities having car
wrecks as a result of the paparazzi. On one occasion the continuous stalking
ended a life. One day Princess Diana and her boyfriend , Dodi Fayed, escaped an
airport from the backdoor to avoid the paparazzi. Three photographers were not
fooled so they followed the Princess and her lover all the way to their last
breath. According to the an article entitled Princess Diana Killed By Reckless Driver and Paparazzi,
Rules Jury in the Huffpost Entertainment,
Robert Barr states that Princess Diana’s death was determined to have
been from the paparazzi following her car and her driver that had been drinking
prior to their departure. Although, there was evidence that the driver had been
drinking, the popular speculation is that the paparazzi caused the crash. Also , the paparazzi managed to take photographs of Diana after the crash. The three photographers that were stalking her were charged with
invading the privacy of Diana and each had to pay a fine of one euro in 2006
(Barr). If it wasn't for the paparazzi that were stalking Princess Diana,
she would have been alive today. A law needs to be strengthened in order to prevent an incident such as Diana's from being repeated. Below is a
video of a broadcaster reporting that the paparazzi are involved in the death
of Diana.
